My work stems from the fear of being forgotten, which in turn stems from my fear that I'll never truly be known.

Underneath the intrinsic humour of my work is a deep-seated fear of leaving no mark on the world and having my life mean nothing to anybody. I hope that the viewer is able to delve beneath the surface and understand that the core reasons for my practice go further than to merely amuse, but is actually a tool for me to try to better understand and confront the concerns I have about myself.
Because of this, the work that I show is directly linked to experiences that I have had and would like to have in the future.

These photographs show an album of work that I have recently created. My work deals with the handmade, found photography and vintage printed matter through the use of collage and illustration. I wish to take advantage of the 'familiar' and the act of remembering as a way of engaging the viewer. Although this nostalgia is paramount, so too is proving the subject matter actually existed and giving the imagery a new life through my work.

For the Square One exhibition I will be creating 2D illustrations/collages which are predominantly Hastings based.
